My Great Great Grandmother Eliza Jane (Cauley) Passmore applied to the Dawes commission for Indian citizenship on September 3rd 1896.
She claimed that her Grandfather ( my GreatX4 Grandfather ) George Cauley was 1/2 Cherokee Indian. The assumption being that his mother Mary Dove was full blood Cherokee.
The Dawes Commission denied the application and my Great Great Grandmother Eliza Jane (Cauley) Passmore died a few months later on December 20th.
